Experience the best of Alaska by combining wildlife viewing and whale watching with glacier trekking! You will enjoy a 2-hour whale watch combined with a 6-hour glacier trek. The trip begins with a whale watch boat cruise. Look for humpback whales, orca, sea lions, harbor seals, porpoise, bald eagles, lots of birds and sometimes black or brown bear from the beach! The boat tour operates in protected waters (inlets, channels, bays).

After enjoying a few hours on the water, you get geared up for the glacier trek. The glacier trek portion begins with a two and a half mile trail hike through the rainforest and along the lake's edge of the Mendenhall Glacier, over forest and rocky terrain. The elevation gain is approximately 300-500 feet. Once you reach the terminus of the glacier, you will then learn how to glacier trek with crampons and an ice axe. Explore unique ice formations - ice caves, pools, tunnels, seracs and crevasses! This is a once in a lifetime adventure!

The hike to the glacier is moderate to challenging, depending on participant's physical fitness level. The first mile of the trail is well maintained and goes through forests with a few switchbacks. The second half of the trail is a little off the beaten path and requires hiking on bedrock with some rock scrambling.
